Here we discuss some reasons for the failure of laptop battery as well as its symptoms and how to prevent it. At the end of
this blog, you will be able to find out whether your laptop battery has a problem of becoming dead or not.
1.Warning from Windows.
Windows and other Operating systems are not providing a clear detail about the battery that has been used. But surely,
it will be showing the signs for warning that it needs a battery replacement for avoiding shutdowns.
Normally, the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) uses the signals to determine whether it needs a battery replacement or not,
and this is shown as an output message to the user. For some reason like the signals get disrupted as a result the Windows
will be showing some false messages that require a replacement.
Microsoft Windows 7 team has made it confirm that there is a bug that causes the Operating System to display this message and
they fix this with their next updates. This has been avoided in the latest Operating System versions of Windows.
If you also want to know about this message, then just follow these two simple steps;
a) Click on the small battery icon on the taskbar of the System.
b) Check if there is a message as Plugged in not charging, consider replacing your battery.
It is a sign of a dead and failure of the laptop battery.
2. Constant Shutdown.
Now - a - days most of the computers have a mechanism to auto shut down the system which is avoiding any damages to the
components and its parts. Although, improvements in the interface most user of the Windows 10 are facing this problem more
than the users of Windows 7 and 10. Likewise, Software failures, Hardware failures also can cause shutdowns frequently.
Along with this, there can be many other reasons for a shutdown that is overheating, malware & viruses, driver issue, sleep
mode settings, etc. It can be very difficult for a user to identify that what exactly causes the frequent
shutdown of device.
One of the most common reason for a device shut down is overheating, apart from this a failing or dying battery also cause
the system to shut down. When it happens, it will not be shutting down as the normal way when a user shut down from the Start
menu, it will be as if anyone pulled off the AC Adapter from the Power source.
3. Overheating Laptop.
It can be normal for a laptop to get hot while doing any heavy tasks but it is abnormal for a laptop to get hot while
performing a small task. If you notice that your fans are spinning louder which is not normal and hot air is coming out,
then there might be some fault in the battery. A laptop battery that has less capacity that tends to get heat more than a
laptop battery that has a high capacity.
There are many other major factors that cause a laptop to be overheating other than a faulty battery that is the damaged fan
and the blockage in the air vents. So, before coming to the conclusion that a faulty battery is a reason for overheating, try
cleaning the air vents and replace or change the fans. If still, it is overheating then it is a sign of a dead battery.
4. Charging Issues.
Normally a laptop battery takes 45 minutes to 1 hour for fully charged. Many modern generation laptops are capable to stop
charging when it reaches 100%, but old generation laptops face an issue with the full discharge.
Charging the laptop above 100% cause its lifespan to reduce. This makes the charging process of the laptop become slow or no
charging may happen. So, the user has to carry the AC Adapter all the time. Once it disconnects the AC Adapter from the power
the laptop will turn off. Other possibilities are charging may happen at a slow rate to reach 100% but it will give only
10 - 15 minutes of Battery backup.
5. Battery Age.
A battery may fail over time due to the long usage. The battery charging capacity may be reducing when every time the user
charges the laptop. Many laptop batteries come under the warranty of 2 years maximum. After this period the manufacturers are
recommending the users to change the battery for a good experience.
